Do you know how to dilute concentrated cooling fluids?

It is recommended to dilute concentrated cooling fluids in the ratio of 1 to1.

There is 1:1= -35° C caption on the label of our concentrated cooling fluid.

Is it worth taking preventive measures and use pure concentrate? The crystallization temperature in the ratio of 1 to 1 is -35 C, therefore the crystallization temperature of pure concentrate is -70 C…

Our experts from ORGANIKA's research laboratory answer:

Nothing more misleading!

Although the guaranteed temperature in the ratio of 1 to 1 is -35° C, pure concentrated cooling fluid freeze already in -14° C! This is characteristic for monoethylene glycol - basic raw material used in cooling fluids production.

The lowest guaranteed temperature of crystallization we can get from concentrated cooling fluid is circa -51° C (dilution table). This is the reason for placing on concentrated cooling fluids following caption: use only diluted product.

Glixoterm – non-freezing concentrates – press article – Rynek Instalacyjny – June 2005.

Chemical Plant ORGANIKA SA produces chemical agents for many branches of industry, among others for: textile, construction, household chemistry, metallurgical, food, tanning, rubber and sewage treatment plants. Concentrated non-freezing fluids proved useful in heating, cooling, air-conditioning, ventilating and solar systems.

ORGANIKA SA which exists on the market for more than a hundred years, offers most modern products and dares to enter into new production areas. The largest concerns, Shell, Basf, Statoil, Clariant, PKN Orlen, Rafineria Gdańska have already appreciated high quality of our products. Chemical Plant ORGANIKA S.A. in Lodz offers following non-freezing fluids:

  • GLIXOTERM concentrate (96%) - based on monoethylene glycol
  • GLIXOTERM EKO concentrate (96%) - based on monopropylene glycol
Water is the best medium used in heat exchange, however the disadvantage is that it freezes in sub-zero temperatures. Preparations based on glycol effectively protect the systems not only from freezing but also from corrosion (inhibitor additives), boiler scale etc.

Glixoterms produced by ORGANIKA are certified by State Hygiene Inspection. Moreover, GLIXOTERM EKO is approved by Research and Development Centre of Sanitary Technology (INSTAL AT/2001002-1128) and can be used in treated water heating systems (PHZ HK/W/0021/02/99). Both those products are widely appreciated either by individual clients or firms. They are used in heating, cooling, air-conditioning and ventilating systems as well as in contemporary ice rink building. Moreover, GLIXOTERM EKO concentrate is commonly used in solar collectors. Fluid in this sort of appliance must both protect the system from freezing and have adequately high boiling point.

The products are available as concentrates or on a client's request (depends on the scale of order) as resistant to freezing to specific temperature solutions. Unquestionable advantage is the fact that any water solution can be prepared according to enclosed dilution table.

It should be mentioned that thanks to concentrated form of the product, the client is not to bear the labour costs connected with preparing the solution, furthermore when it comes to dispatch, he saves money on transport.

More and more clients decide to use GLIXOTERM EKO concentrate (based on monopropylene glycol) because it is not toxic and it is much safer in case of accidental consumption. Potential toxicity depends not only on the kind of used glycol but also on so called enriching additives. It is crucial due to the fact that most of detached houses have heating system with an integrated function of treated water heating.

In case of possible damages in the heat exchangers there is a theoretical danger of heating fluid leakage into the system. Possible poisoning, in case of GLIXOTERM EKO becomes impossible.

GLIXOTERM EKO concentrate can be used in the system made of all commonly used construction materials: cast iron, aluminium, copper and plastic. Maximum user's safety and high quality at competitive price were the fundamental aims for ORGANIKA when GLIXOTERM EKO concentrate was introduced. These are sufficient trumps for the product to gain positive approval among the clients.
